Pediatric Eye Exams

Pediatric Eye Exams From The Eye Center

If you are a parent, your child requires optometry visits from a young age to ensure their eye health and vision needs are treated when necessary. Contact The Eye Center if you live in the Bixby, Okmulgee, or South Tulsa areas to make an appointment with our Optometrist for an appointment for your child. Here is some information about pediatric eye exams so you know what to expect when you bring your child to our eye doctor for optometry care.

Documentation Is Evaluated Before an Examination

Documentation Is Evaluated Before An Examination

If you had brought your child to another eye doctor in the past, it is best to retain any documentation provided from their appointments so that they can be brought to our optometrist for review. This will give our practitioner an idea about any prior treatments administered and will help to determine the proper course of action in future treatments of your child's eye care if necessary. If your child has vision insurance, be sure to bring along their identification card. It is best to call your child's insurance provider before an appointment to ensure you are aware of the coverage available.

A Detailed Examination Will Be Conducted

Our Optometrist is adept at dealing with children of all ages and will make sure they have fun while they are being examined. Each process our eye doctor conducts will be explained to you and your child beforehand so there are no surprises along the way. Your child's eyes will be checked over using various in-house equipment and illumination sources. After your child's eye health is evaluated, a vision screening is conducted. If your child is not old enough to read numbers or letters, a picture chart is available to check the prescription strength of your child's eyes.

Recommendations Are Made About The Findings

If your child requires further care after a routine pediatric examination, our Optometrist will discuss the options available for their treatment. This could be done in a private setting if you wish. Our staff is available to care for your child while you have a discussion with our eye doctor. If your child requires eyeglasses, we will ask you for your desires regarding frames before allowing your child to select a set from our inventory. This ensures that we will show your child appropriate frames for your price range and their age level.
